Student Radio Presenter is New Voice of BBC Radio 1: Full Story

David, who will soon graduate from a multimedia degree at Trent, entered a competition to be the voice of the Student Radio Awards at the SRA's Spring Conference. Although David narrowly missed out on second place, he was later approached by a judge who works for Radio 1.

David said: “He asked me if I’d like to try out to be the new station voice of Radio 1, so a few months later I had an audition and thankfully was successful. I’m now the male voice for all their daytime production and I’ve been to the studios to record it all, so when you hear snippets such as ‘This is Radio 1’, it’s me!”

David took Fly FM to 5 student radio awards last year - as well as playing a key part in the design of the Student Radio Association's new brand.

He added: “I would like a career in broadcast and this is a great start for me. From September I’m Students’ Union president for a year and then who knows what’s next.”
